pvServe: Multifunctional PV Service Power Supply for Professional Diagnostics and Maintenance of Photovoltaic Systems

The pvServe is a highly precise service power supply for the technical inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of photovoltaic module strings. It was specifically developed for solar installers, electrical contractors, surveyors, and service teams who need to test PV strings reliably and independently of current solar irradiation.

Thanks to grid-coupled reverse current injection, the system operates safely and reproducibly even at night or under low irradiation conditions. With up to 1000 V DC, 5 A output current, and 3.3 kW power, the pvServe is ideally suited for mobile field diagnostics, preventive quality assurance in solar parks, as well as laboratory and commissioning applications.

Key Advantages for PV Diagnostics

NIGHT
Independent of Solar Irradiation
Reverse current injection can also be carried out at night, enabling tests regardless of global irradiation levels or time of day.
1000V
Wide Voltage Range
With up to 1000 V DC, even longer PV strings with many series-connected modules can be tested reliably.
230V
Operation from Standard Schuko Outlet
The maximum power of 3.3 kW is designed for operation from any standard 230 V / 16 A socket, simplifying field deployment.
BYP
Non-Destructive Bypass Diode Testing
The functional test of bypass diodes can be carried out safely on shaded or nighttime PV generators.
IR
Optimized for Thermography
Nighttime testing protects highly sensitive infrared cameras from direct sunlight and improves the validity of thermal analyses.
CTRL
Integrated Load Control
Precise power limitation ensures stable operation within the physical limits of standard grid infrastructures.

Typical Application Scenarios

THERM
Reverse Current Thermography

Targeted current injection to visualize thermal anomalies such as hotspots, corroded cell connectors, or defective junction boxes.

EL
Electroluminescence Testing

In combination with a suitable camera, microcracks and structural defects in solar cells can be made precisely visible.

DIO
Bypass Diode Test

Validation of protective diodes to detect partial failures, power losses, and safety-relevant fault conditions.

INV
Early Inverter Commissioning

Electrical function testing before roof installation is fully completed, helping reduce project time and improve trade coordination.

SNOW
Weather Management

Targeted heating of the module surface for snow removal under suitable roof inclinations and controlled operating conditions.

FIELD
Field Service Deployment

Ideal for ground-mounted systems, rooftop installations, and mobile testing tasks during maintenance, inspections, and fault localization.

Added Value for Industrial Users

The pvServe optimizes maintenance and diagnostic processes in photovoltaic systems through reproducible testing independent of weather conditions and time of day. Service operations can be planned more effectively, while daytime energy generation remains as unaffected as possible.

In addition, the system supports early fault detection, documentation of critical defects, and the parallelization of electrical and mechanical project phases. This helps reduce yield losses, shorten project timelines, and provide technically sound support for warranty claims.
