Selectable voltage or current control priority adapts the turn-on behaviour to sensitive or low-impedance devices under test.
N39200 – Dual-Channel DC Power Supply up to 600 W per Channel
For compact laboratory and ATE setups with two isolated, independently controlled outputs and programmable sequences.
The N39200 series combines two independently adjustable, mutually isolated DC outputs in a compact half 19-inch enclosure. It can supply two test stations simultaneously or operate both channels in parallel for one DUT. Wide-range outputs accommodate different voltage and current requirements within their respective power limits.
Voltage, current and dwell time can be specified step by step and stored as repeatable test sequences.
Four-wire feedback measures voltage directly at the DUT and compensates for voltage drops in the supply leads.
Two LAN ports and an RS232 interface enable remote control and integration of multiple instruments into PC-controlled test setups.

N39200 programmable dual-channel DC power supply overview
The N39200 series is a programmable DC power supply for laboratory testing, system integration and production burn-in. Six models cover output voltages up to 60 V or 150 V. Depending on the model, each channel provides 200 W, 400 W or 600 W and up to 20 A. Both channels are mutually isolated and independently adjustable, with their readings shown together on the display. Output regulation operates in constant voltage or constant current mode according to the settings and load. Sequences for time-dependent tests can be edited directly on the instrument. A 4.3-inch touchscreen, buttons and a rotary knob support local operation. LAN and RS232 enable remote control. The enclosure occupies 2U at half 19-inch width and weighs approximately 7 kg.
Key benefits
Two test stations per instrument
Isolated, independently adjustable outputs supply two DUTs simultaneously and reduce the number of instruments required at the test bench.
Appropriate turn-on behaviour
Voltage priority supports sensitive voltage inputs; current priority reduces overshoot when supplying low-impedance loads.
Regulate voltage at the DUT
Separate sense leads feed back the actual load voltage and compensate for the effect of the supply leads.
Repeatable test profiles
Up to ten sequence files with a combined maximum of 200 steps store defined voltage, current and timing parameters.
View both channels together
The 4.3-inch touchscreen displays readings and operating states for both channels; a virtual keypad simplifies numerical entry.
Combine channel power
Connecting the two instrument channels in parallel doubles the available current and power while retaining the same maximum voltage.
Models and operating range
| Model | Voltage per channel | Current per channel | Power per channel | Channels |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| N39220-60-10 | 0–60 V | 0–10 A | 200 W | 2 |
| N39240-60-20 | 0–60 V | 0–20 A | 400 W | 2 |
| N39260-60-20 | 0–60 V | 0–20 A | 600 W | 2 |
| N39220-150-04 | 0–150 V | 0–4 A | 200 W | 2 |
| N39240-150-08 | 0–150 V | 0–8 A | 400 W | 2 |
| N39260-150-08 | 0–150 V | 0–8 A | 600 W | 2 |
Voltage, current and power limits apply simultaneously to each channel. The operating point must satisfy P = U × I. For example, the N39260-60-20 can supply up to 10 A per channel at 60 V; 20 A is available up to 30 V within the 600 W limit.
Regulation, sequences and parallel operation
| Function | Operation and benefit |
|---|---|
| V/I with CV and CC | Voltage and current limit are set per channel. When the current limit is reached, regulation changes from constant voltage to constant current operation. |
| CV/CC priority | CV priority helps reduce voltage overshoot, for example when supplying processors or FPGAs. CC priority supports a controlled current rise into low-impedance loads, such as during battery charging. |
| SEQ and SEQ Edit | Voltage, current, dwell time, voltage rise time and current rise time can be set for each step. Up to ten files share a total of 200 steps; repetitions and file linking are supported. The output switches off when the sequence finishes. |
| CH1/CH2 parallel connection | The outputs and their Host/Slave connections are wired accordingly; Cascade and the master channel are then configured. Maximum voltage remains unchanged while current and power double. The 600 W models therefore provide up to 1,200 W. |
Resolution and dynamics
Voltage setting and readback resolution is 1 mV for the 60 V models and 10 mV for the 150 V models. Current setting and readback resolution is 1 mA across all models. Voltage rise time and fall time are each no greater than 50 ms under no-load conditions. Resolution is distinct from setting and measurement accuracy.
Typical applications
Production testing and burn-in
Two test stations receive independently adjustable DC supplies. Sequences and PC control support repeatable procedures in production and system testing.
Processor and FPGA supplies
CV priority is selected for sensitive low-voltage inputs to reduce voltage overshoot during turn-on.
Battery charging
The source provides charging voltage and a current limit. CC priority supports a controlled current rise into the low-impedance battery.
Supply profiles for automotive electronics
SEQ provides timed voltage and current steps for electronics testing, for example to reproduce supply conditions during engine starting.
Interfaces and software
| Equipment | Function |
|---|---|
| Two LAN ports | PC remote control and integration of multiple instruments; network communication uses UDP. Multiple instruments require unique IP addresses. |
| RS232 | Serial remote control with selectable baud rates from 9,600 to 115,200 baud. |
| PC application software | Parameter configuration, output control, protection thresholds, voltage and current charts, and display of operation, fault and status information. |
| Sense and Host/Slave | Separate connections for four-wire voltage feedback and coordination of the two channels in parallel operation. |
Installation and protection functions
The instrument requires a single-phase 220 V AC ±10% supply at 47–63 Hz; observe the voltage marking on the rear panel. Dimensions are 214 × 88 × 546 mm (W × H × D). The operating temperature range is 0–40 °C. Output leads must be rated for the applicable current. When remote sense is not used, the specified sense bridges must be fitted.
OVP, OCP and OPP monitor the configured voltage, current and power thresholds for each channel. Exceeding a threshold switches the output off and displays an alarm. Overtemperature protection (OTP) is also provided.
Frequently asked questions about the N39200 series
Can the two channels be used independently?
Yes. Both outputs are mutually isolated and independently adjustable. Readings from both channels are displayed simultaneously.
Does 600 W refer to the entire instrument?
For N39260 models, 600 W applies to each channel. Both channels provide up to 1,200 W in total; the combined power limit also remains 1,200 W in parallel operation.
Are maximum voltage and maximum current available simultaneously?
Only if their product remains within the channel power limit. For the N39260-60-20, 60 V and 20 A would require 1,200 W, exceeding the 600 W available from one channel.
How many sequence steps can be stored?
Up to ten files with a combined total of 200 steps. Voltage, current and timing parameters can be configured for each step.
What is remote sense used for?
Separate measurement leads sense the voltage at the DUT. The control loop compensates for voltage drops in the current-carrying leads.
Can it supply two burn-in stations?
Yes. In independent dual-channel operation, each output can supply one station. Each station must remain within its channel voltage, current and power limits.
Can N39200 power sensitive FPGA supplies?
Yes, where the voltage and current requirements match. CV priority reduces voltage overshoot during turn-on, while remote sense accounts for voltage drop between the source and DUT.
Can N39200 be used for battery charging?
Yes, within the appropriate voltage, current and power range. Charging voltage and current limit are configured, and CC priority supports current rise into the low-impedance load.
