Bidirectional 42 kW DC source (3U) with regenerative load for battery, PV and automotive tests.
The N35500 series is a high-performance bidirectional programmable DC power supply combining a DC source and regenerative load within one system. Delivering up to 42 kW in only 3U, with voltage ranges from 0 – 2250 V and high power density, the series is designed for demanding R&D, laboratory, and production testing environments. Thanks to its bidirectional architecture, the unit can both source and absorb power, feeding energy back to the grid with up to 93 % regenerative efficiency. Seamless switching between source and load operation prevents overshoot and enables realistic dynamic testing for batteries, DC/DC converters, and energy systems. The N35500 supports CC/CV/CP/CR operating modes, CC/CV priority control, fast dynamic response (≤5 ms), battery simulation, PV array simulation, and sequence testing. This makes it ideal for complex testing scenarios including automotive, fuel cell, photovoltaic, energy storage, and ATE applications. For higher power requirements, the series supports master/master parallel operation up to MW level, allowing multiple units to be combined into scalable high-power test systems with centralized control. Standard interfaces such as LAN, RS232, RS485, and CAN, together with SCPI, Modbus-RTU, and CANopen protocol support, ensure easy integration into automated test benches and industrial environments.
