Charge & Discharge Cycle Test System overview

The Charge & Discharge Cycle Test System controls recurring charge and discharge processes through freely configurable test sequences. Charge, discharge and rest phases can be added, edited, deleted and combined in loops. Appropriate setpoints and termination conditions are assigned to each step. The cycle counter supports 0 to 65,535 repetitions, with 0 enabling continuous operation. During execution, the software displays device status, the active test step, output values, capacity, events and elapsed times. Measurement data can be recorded, viewed as real-time curves and opened later through the data query interface. Test sequences can be exported and reimported in XML format. Communication with the connected power device is configured using its IP address, port and device ID.

Test workflow and central control

Before a test starts, a saved plan is selected and displayed in a preview. Protection parameters and the required cycle count are defined in the start dialog. The software then processes the selected sequence automatically.

Controlled stop: The stop function terminates the active sequence and switches off all output channels of the connected power device at the same time. Following a device alarm, the alarm state is cleared manually after the cause has been resolved, before the output is restored and the test restarted.

Programmable test steps and limit conditions

Rest Duration in hours, minutes and seconds The total duration of a rest step must not exceed 100 days.
Cycle loop 0 to 65,535 cycles A value of 0 enables continuous repetition and is also the default setting.

Measurement data acquisition and analysis

Real-time data

The status panel shows connection and output state, voltage, current, power, capacity, operating mode, alarms, active step and elapsed time.

Historical data records

Saved record files can be opened through the data query interface to review the detailed values recorded during a test.

Curves against time

Voltage, current and capacity curves are plotted against time and updated throughout the test.

Additional diagrams plot voltage and current as a function of the recorded capacity.

The software supports recurring battery tests that require defined procedures, clear termination criteria and traceable measurement data.

Charge and discharge characterisation

Charge and discharge phases are applied to the battery under test using suitable setpoints and voltage-, current-, capacity- or time-based termination criteria.

Cyclic endurance testing

Defined sequences are repeated for a specified number of cycles or without a fixed limit while execution is continuously monitored.

Cutoff condition evaluation

The device under test can be operated up to defined voltage, current, capacity or time limits before the relevant step ends automatically.

The “Charge&discharge cycle test system21.0 x64_Setup.exe” installer is launched from the supplied USB drive. After installation, the application automatically creates a desktop shortcut.

Protection and safety functions

Overvoltage, overcurrent, overpower, undervoltage and undercurrent limits can be configured for process monitoring. The system initiates protective actions when a limit is exceeded. Device alarms are displayed in the user interface and cleared manually after the cause has been resolved.

Safe system operation:
  • Make electrical connections only while the equipment is switched off.
  • Connect the power device correctly to protective earth before operation.
  • Allow only qualified personnel to operate the system.
  • Do not use damaged equipment or perform unauthorised modifications.
